Announcing the Version 1.8 Software Release
Share
If you're an existing Theme Park Waits customer this is a free software upgrade that does one thing: increase reliability in areas with spotty internet or Wifi.
The one problem customers have reported is the LED works fine under normal conditions, but occassionally it will just go blank. Investigating the problem shows the culprit is the box sometimes has problems contacting the wait time server, either because the server itself had a hiccup, or there was bad weather and the internet conks out for a few minutes.
The workaround is to power cycle the box, ie. unplug it and plug it back in again. This upgrade, however, adds extra layers of error protection and logging. Its designed to keep trying to contact the server until its available again, but if you do run into a problem there will be a stack trace to pinpoint the issue so we can fix it on our end. In that case contact us for instructions on how to send us the error log.
If you're having the problems described then this is a no brainer! And if you have an earlier version like 1.1-1.7 you'll also notice improvements to the display and control page.
To upgrade go to the settings page at:
http://themeparkwaits.local/settings.html
Scroll down, and if the version running on your LED box is older, there will be an option to upgrade to the latest release by clicking on the Upgrade Button. Depending on the speed of your internet connection the box it will be black from 2 to 10 minutes. Best to just take a break and let it do it's thing for a while.
